New Green Studio

New Redwood Garden Studio

Marin, CA

In 2022, I built a new studio in my redwood garden in Marin using a prefab design from studio-shed. My goal is to promote a more sustainable future, and that principle guides my studio practice.

Having a home studio helps me reduce greenhouse gases and minimize my carbon footprint. I deliberately chose a smaller studio to limit material usage and furnished it only with essential items, reusing whenever possible. Typically, I focus on 1-2 paintings at a time, maintaining a clean and minimal workspace. All my art materials find a home in a small office within my house.

I selected this studio for its commitment to sustainability, utilizing eco-friendly building materials and adhering to stringent energy codes. The lumber comes from responsibly managed forests, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Additionally, the energy-efficient windows and doors contribute to lower power consumption while ensuring comfort.

Environmental preservation is a cause close to my heart, and I take pride in contributing to a greener planet through my studio choices. It's a small step, but every effort counts in our journey towards a more sustainable world.
