Synthesis

This painting functions as a visual meditation on selfhood and transformation. A surreal self-portrait emerges: the artist’s head drifts above the fog-shrouded forests of Marin County, dissolving into a halo of lichen. With eyes half-closed and ears and mouth open, the figure becomes a vessel—permeable to the environment—as bubbles rise and burst in quiet succession. Small birds land and lift from the cloud-like form, agents of transience and attention.

Conceived during morning walks through the hills near her home, Synthesis reflects on the porous boundary between interior awareness and the natural world. It explores identity as something not fixed, but continually shaped by observation, intuition, and the subtle interplay of thought, place, and presence.

A portion of proceeds supports large-scale land conservation through Art to Acres.
