Ribbon Eels

45 x 40 inches, 48 x 43 inches (framed), acrylic on maple panel, 2007

From the Depths

Created during a year-long residency at the California Academy of Sciences, this painting was first exhibited in the exhibit In the Depths, on the public floor of the museum. A swirling mass of ribbon eels navigates the sandy seafloor—rendered in the natural grain of the maple wood—curious, alert, and forever in search of their next meal.

A portion of proceeds supports large-scale land conservation through Art to Acres.
