Ribbon Eels

2007, acrylic on maple panel, 45 x 40 in, 48 x 43 inches (framed)

From the Depths

Created during a year-long residency at the California Academy of Sciences, this painting was first exhibited in the In the Depths exhibition on the museum's public floor. A swirling mass of ribbon eels navigates the sandy seafloor—rendered in the natural grain of the maple wood—curious, alert, and forever in search of their next meal.
